Topics to be covered during the week are, studio, location interiors, environmental portraiture, window light, subtractive lighting, and photographing at night using car headlights, mercury vapor lights, (anything available.) Posing, marketing, print competition, sports, dance schools, how to survive in today’s economy. Photoshop tricks that will wow your clients.
We will have critiques of all students’ work. Each student is requested to bring 20 samples of work on CD. Students should bring a digital camera and lenses. This class will be hands on, with everyone making images for critique. We will be photographing models and each other. Bring an outfit you would like to be photographed in.
Wednesday: Early morning shoot outside. Finding the sweet light. We will use buildings, woods, high key and low key images. Students will photograph each other. We will eat breakfast after the shoot, and then critique what we have done. Barry will work in a studio set up using from one to six lights demonstrating indoor studio lighting. Students will each photograph using this set up with a model. Photoshop® tricks to separate your work from all the rest will be shown. Student’s may bring a lap top and download 30 day trials of some great programs that Barry uses in his studio. Evening program for all school. 1 hour.
Thursday: Class will start at 8:00am Window light demonstration and then students will photograph models. We will critique images from the morning shoot. We will have marketing program at 11:00am till noon. Afternoon we will photograph indoors on location using strobes and interiors. We will go into Rhinelander for afternoon shoot, using buildings, alleys, anything. Break for dinner and photograph in town after dark. Streetlights, etc. finding great locations, and making great images with strobe, and available light.
Friday: Class starts at 9:00am. We will have a contest for the best image made by a student, (class will vote). We will talk about Print competition, PPA style and explain the positives that can be achieved in this great marketing opportunity. We will review images from the night before in Rhinelander. If we have the opportunity to photograph any sporting event at the local high school, track, girls softball, baseball, soccer, we will go and shoot a game anytime during the week. We will then move our schedule around and do the missed activities on Friday that we lost. We will show how to earn up to a thousand dollars per event and make the athletic director, and coaches our biggest fans. Review all material covered and wrap up.
