Wisconsin Professional Photographers School @Treehaven
As a professional photographer for 30 plus years and a speaker for almost two decades, I am constantly amazed at how much we can learn each day. My goal is to make better photographers. As I come up with new ideas or techniques I will constantly add to the contents of my course.
I thought I would advise you in what to expect in class. Please bring your camera, portable strobe and a light meter. I expect you to shoot during the week. Part of the course includes creating images which you will be proud to show to other photographers. I want you to look at your created photography and say to yourself, “I did that.” The premise is, if you can do it once you can do it again.
Start thinking of your wish list. What is it that you want to get out of this course. I will be there to help and will do my best to accommodate everyone’s needs.
We’ll also explore business practices, ethics, marketing and personality assessment techniques. I believe these items are essential as we “compete” with all of the new “professionals,” who are flooding the field.
Some of the areas to be covered in this course are:
* Compositional Study Guide
* Wheel of Self-Assessment
* Master the Light, Basics and Studio
* Demo of Studio Lighting Forms
* Facial Analysis
* Motion within a Portrait
* Mastering the Light, Outdoors & Exposure
* Calibrating Meters
* Food and or Product Photography
* Marketing
No matter the media, photographers need to understand that light and exposure are essential components to success in photography.
The program will then discuss environmental lighting and how you can streamline your operation by eliminating variables. The focus will be on learning to “see the light.”
As we enter a new age in photography, we are being confronted with new ideas, new business plans and massive amounts of new technology.
We sometimes forget that no matter what the media, understanding light and exposure will always be the one essential component to success in photography.
In Mastering the Light, we’ll explore lighting in the studio and in the field.
We will build a working studio and through live demonstration illustrates the strengths of portrait, glamour and modified glamour lighting forms. We will discuss facial analysis and how each lighting form affects your subject.
The program will then discuss environmental lighting and how you can streamline your operation by eliminating variables.
Subjects such as the characteristic curve, histograms, achieving proper exposure and location mapping will be illustrated and explained.
As we turn our attention to digital imaging, we will discuss the “great myths,” of exposure and digital technology.
